Luggage weight calculator with packing list
US airlines on this site mostly publish no carry-on weight cap; Frontier and Breeze cap it at 35 lb. The 7 to 12 kg caps are European, Middle Eastern and Asia-Pacific.
This is an estimate from typical garment weights. Weigh the packed bag before you leave.
The per-item weights are typical figures for adult clothing, not measurements of yours; change the counts, and weigh one heavy item on a kitchen scale if you are near a limit. A luggage scale settles it at the door.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a packed carry-on weigh?
Most packed carry-ons land between 15 and 25 pounds: a hardside 21 or 22 inch case weighs 6 to 9 pounds empty on its listing, and a week of clothes and toiletries adds 10 to 15. That clears every US airline on this site but often exceeds the 7 kg (15.4 lb) Economy caps at Emirates, Qatar and Qantas.
What is the weight limit for a checked bag?
The standard Economy checked bag limit is 50 lb (23 kg) at American, Delta, Southwest, Alaska, JetBlue, Spirit, Allegiant, Breeze, Air Canada, WestJet, Air France and others on this site. Frontier is lower at 40 lb. Premium cabins are often 70 lb (32 kg).
Why do airlines limit checked bag weight?
The per-bag cap protects baggage handlers, which is why many carriers refuse any single bag above 32 kg (70 lb) or 100 lb outright regardless of fees. The 23 kg (50 lb) standard is where most airlines begin charging overweight fees, and above 32 kg many will not load the bag at all.
